Ways To Stop Snoring

Has snoring become a problem for you? Snoring is not only an annoying fact of life for you, but it may also be affecting others in your life. Snoring can also be a symptom of sleep apnea. Other symptoms of sleep apnea include, heart problems, high blood pressure, sleeplessness and an overall feeling of lethargy and irritabilty. If you are looking for ways to stop snoring, you may first have to address any health issues you have.

Some of you merely suffer from snoring because you sleep on your back. By sleeping on your back you are blocking some of your air passages and this can then lead to snoring. You may actually ease your snoring problem by sleeping on your side. You may even of heard of the old wive’s tale about sewing a tennis ball into the back of your pyjamas. This is supposed to force you lie on your side everytime you try and roll onto your back. However, rather than being one of the effective ways to stop snoring, this merely seems like it may keep you awake all night. Try bunching some large pilows behind you in order to stop you rolling onto your back.

Are you overweight? Not an issue that many people like talking about, but if you are overweight, you may well have excess fatty tissues around your throat and neck. This excess tissues can restrict air  flow and put additional pressure on your breathing. These thing can be one of the major causes of snoring. So one of the best ways to stop snoring may be you trying to lose some weight.

Another issue that can lead to snoring is a dry throat. Is your bedroom fairly humid and dry? You could try setting a humidifier up in your bedroom and see if your snoring problem persists. Many people  also have a humidifier on their central heating. If so, try using this. If you find that your snoring gets better, then your main problems are with a dry mouth and sore throat.

Are you overly abusing your body? Smoking cigarettes can cause a snoring problem. Alcohol can also lead to excessive snoring. Alcohol is a depressant and like all depressants it will serve to relax the muscles in your body. Your muscles will become further relaxed once you’re asleep. So a night of drinking can actually worsen a snoring problem. So again, another one of the great ways to stop snoring is to treat your body a little better!

Sleeping pills will have the same effect as alcohol on your system. Your muscles will become overly relaxed and this can lead to snoring. Additionally, if you have allergies always treat them with a decongestant. Never use an anti-histamine, as this combined with any sedative can cause snoring because your muscles are again so relaxed. It’s best to try a nasal decongestant prior to sleep to treat allergies.

These are some of the most common problem areas when it comes to snoring. There are numerous ways to stop snoring. From as simple as changing your sleeping position, to as complicated as surgery. If you try some of these ways to stop snoring and your problems still continue, then it’s time to take further action ane discover your personal cure for snoring!
